We are taking 2017 membership applications for The Manchester Press Club

Welcome to Manchester Press Club...

Manchester Press Club, concealed behind an unassuming glass door on Queen Street just off Deansgate in the city centre, we would be easy to miss were it not for the two plaques fixed to the outside wall. One proclaims the year of our foundation; 1870 and the other announces that it is strictly members only*. Originally intended as a drinking establishment for late-finishing journalists, our club still opens until 6am each and every night and is one of Manchester's top celebrity hangouts

Manchester Press Club is regularly attended by the cast of Coronation Street (which is filmed at Medai City in Salford), and most members of the media are admitted if they carry a press card and are willing to brave a spell on our karaoke machine! It's still as popular as ever among the local press.

Come and join in at the Manchester Press Club

Some of our famous members recently spotted in the club include Steve Coogan, Antony Cotton from Coronation Street, Freddie Flintoff and Ricky Hatton. Famous names from the past include Daily Express editor Ted "Strangler" Lewis and Daily Mirror pictures editor George Harrap...
